I just want to say thanks for the excellent product and fast service. I received my torison springs yesterday which was several days ahead of the expected time. I installed last night and they worked great. I did not know what size springs to ordered because I had added about 90 pounds of weight to the garage door. Your calculated spring size based on the weight I gave you was excellent. I was able to get a perfect balance.

Terry,Thank you for all of your assistance in replacing the torsion spring in my circa 1938 garage door opener. It is working again, and I have a spare spring and two cables for the other door should it decide to fail.
I would like to especially thank you for warning me about the fact that the spring had to be stretched in the tube. That gave me some time to think about how I was going to accomplish that inside the tube. I ended up putting a 1/8 inch cable through the free end of the spring and putting the spring into the tube. I secured one end of the spring to the assembly that applies the pre-torsion and attaching that end to the tube with three machine screws. I used a come-along to pull on both ends of the cable and apply tension to the torsion spring until I could pass the bolt through the tube and the end of the spring. I then used the come-along to pull out the 1/8 inch cable (which ended up curled up like a Christmas ribbon). I then attached the other pulley to the tube with three machine screws. Once the whole assembly was back in place in the garge and the cables wrapped around the pulleys with about 1 1/2 turn, I applied a pre-tension of 6 turns to the tensioning assembly -- 1/4 turn at a time, pinning it between each 1/4 turn. The other door had 6 turns of the pulley as the door opened. I checked the balance of the door and added another 1/2 turn. It seems to work well with the garage door opener.
